As a trade and investment promotion organisation, our primary role is to facilitate small and medium-sized enterprises to succeed in international markets through the delivery of integrated programmes that provide trade and market intelligence, create connections to international markets, promote inclusive trade and strengthen investment support.

Pacific Trade Invest NZ will again be working with Sherrelle Smith, a renowned expert in the New Zealand Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) market, to offer webinars aimed at Pacific Islands produce and packaged-foods exporters, which are filled with valuable insights about product access in stores and supermarkets throughout the country.

In practical terms this has been with an effective FMCG Retail Engagement Programme, working directly with Kiwi supermarket retailing expert Sherrelle Smith.

Building a Commercial Fresh Pineapple Export Industry in Fiji – title and coverage of report launched in Fiji on 1 August 2025, with a copy handed over by PTI NZ’s Trade Commissioner Glynis Miller, to the Acting Minister of Agriculture and Waterways, Honourable Alitia Bainivalu.
The comprehensive report outlines the current state of pineapple production in Fiji and provides a roadmap for increasing Fiji’s access to the New Zealand market.
“Pineapple production in Fiji dates back to the 1860s and has seen cycles of growth and decline, often competing with sugarcane for land and resources,” says Glynis Miller.

Pacific Trade Invest New Zealand (PTI NZ) has released a comprehensive report, Transforming Waste into Vale – Investment Opportunities and Strategic Approaches in the Pacific Island Countries Waster Management Sector.
The extensive scope of the report is covered in its explanatory subtitle. The 70-page detailed document was produced for PTI NZ by Jeffrey Lamb and Pablo Lopez Legaretta of Siem Inc. Lamb (who is based in Texas, USA) and Legaretta (Samoa) conducted the research, analysis and completed the writing of the report.

The Feasibility Study on Fiji’s Pineapple Export Industry is continuing, with researchers from Samoa IBC (Innovative Business Consultants) now conducting a survey to find out about New Zealand consumers’ habits with regard to buying pineapple products – both fresh and processed.

Pacific Trade Invest NZ has commissioned and had completed a report on the important issue of Gender Lens Investing in Pacific Island Countries. The report is intended for an audience of progressive international investors who may be looking to invest in any business in any sectors anywhere in the Blue Pacific Continent. The research leading to the document is wide-reaching and covers important subject areas such as Current Gender Dynamics in the Blue Pacific; Opportunities and Challenges for Gender lens Investments; questioning What can Investors Do? and Integration of Gender Lens Analysis into Investment Decision-Making Progress.
SHE LEADS is an inspirational multimedia story-telling project, where we have made video interviews of women leaders in the Blue Pacific.
In 2024, 44 video interviews were filmed and finished as four-minute Youtube videos, shorter TikTok and Instagram reels, and feature-length stories. The women filmed were gifted their own videos, to use in their own publicity. SHE LEADS film shoots were in Nouvelle-Calédonie, Cook Islands,Tonga and Samoa.
SHE LEADS draws on the 2050 Strategy for the Blue Pacific Continent and is designed to celebrate women as business leaders; to amplify their stories, their endurance; their voices and their social, cultural and economic footprint. SHE LEADS serves as an inspiration for women everywhere, and contributes positively to the UN Sustainable Development Goals
