On 15 June, Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) China, in partnership with Investment Fiji, launched the “Pacific Trade Online” app and the rollout of a training webinar. The webinar targets Pacific Island businesses interested in exporting their products and services to China, attracting Chinese importers and investors.
PTI China has conducted in-depth and extensive research and incorporated feedback from many e-commerce digital platforms. Collaborating with United Media Solution (UMS) Social, it developed and launched a WeChat-based mini-program called “Pacific Trade Online”, which integrates Pacific trade, investment, culture and tourism information.
The WeChat platform boasts more than 1 billion active users in China. Initially designed as a communication software, as its user base grows, WeChat has evolved into a comprehensive ecosystem with integrated functions. One of its distinctive features is the mini-program, which functions like a regular app without the need for installation, saving phone storage space and allowing users to open and close it quickly.
Furthermore, the WeChat ecosystem focuses on social networking and marketing. Mini-programs can be quickly distributed in one-on-one chats, group chats, and on Moments (a posting page of WeChat), making them highly convenient and efficient for promoting brands and expanding market reach for SMEs.
To reach Chinese users, Pacific Trade Online is leveraging the WeChat platform and providing a synchronised H5 page accessible to non-WeChat users in the Pacific.
To better support Pacific Island exporters and their Chinese market development partners in using the Pacific Trade Online mini-program, PTI China provides them access to the back-end interface, enabling their marketing departments to update product information anytime. PTI China regularly reviews, translates and designs the uploaded information, displaying it on both WeChat and the H5 page.
Looking ahead to the future of PTI China’s e-commerce mini-program, Yolanda Jiang, Export Manager of PTI China, stated, “With the gradual progress of the series of training webinars for different Pacific countries and regions, the Pacific Trade Online mini-program will continue to attract more businesses from the island region, presenting a growing number of products and investment opportunities to the vast community of active WeChat users.
“We invite everyone interested in the Pacific Island countries to use our mini-program. PTI will foster deeper understanding between Pacific countries and Chinese businesses, increase awareness of island products, and bring more cooperation opportunities for the economic development and digital transformation of the Pacific region in the near future.”
Mona Mato, Trade Commissioner of PTI China, said, “We hope that Pacific Trade Online will become a promoter of innovation and development, not only facilitating Chinese businesses in understanding the special products and investment opportunities, but also promoting the innovation of business models in the Pacific region. It should serve as an incubator for high-quality brands and emerging industries in the Pacific region, providing practical and feasible pathways for traditional brands and exporters to upgrade their marketing and publicity, thereby realising the goal of market promotion diversification.”
