PTI Australia’s recent trade and investment mission to Samoa marked a significant milestone in strengthening existing relationships and forging new connections in the Blue Pacific region, strengthening key relations with clients and stakeholders on the ground, while also providing an opportunity to finalise deals and existing projects.

Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) Australia’s recent trade and investment mission to Samoa took place between 20–23 March, and marked a significant milestone in strengthening existing relationships and forging new connections in the Blue Pacific region.

Trade and investment missions enable PTI Australia’s team to maintain key relations with clients and stakeholders on the ground, while also finalising deals and existing projects, and meeting new businesses, exporters, growers, manufacturers and service providers to discuss opportunities and development of trade and investment in the region. In recent years, these trips have become essential to fostering growth and on-the-ground insights in a post-pandemic context and serve as a reminder of the importance of face-to-face interactions and relationships.

During the action-packed visit, PTI Australia met with numerous organisations, including exporters Natural Foods International, Samoa AgroMarketing, Talofa Taro, Wylex Samoa, Janet’s of Samoa, Mailelani Skincare, KUKI Skincare, and Vaoala Vanilla. The team also engaged with partners, including the Samoan Investment Authority, PHAMA-Plus, the Scientific Research Organisation of Samoa, Samoan Chamber of Commerce, Samoa Association of Manufacturers and Exporters, Samoa Trust, Women in Business Development Inc (WIBDI) and PACER Plus.

PTI Australia’s General Manager of Exports, Jeremy Grennell, said the mission highlighted the many opportunities present across the island nation, as well as the optimism and resilience of local exporters.

“It has been an enriching experience reconnecting with our Samoan partners after the COVID-19 travel restrictions. We have had many fruitful discussions and seen firsthand the incredible work being done by local businesses and organisations on the ground. We are excited about the future prospects for trade and investment in Samoa and look forward to continuing our support for the region’s growth,” he said.

Kuinimeri Finau, Manager of Food Service at the Scientific Research Organisation of Samoa (SROS), expressed gratitude for the support and collaboration provided by PTI Australia. She said:

“We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to meet with PTI Australia’s team while in Samoa. Their unwavering support and dedication to working with Samoan businesses and partner organisations has been instrumental in our growth and success. Thank you PTI Australia!”

The mission highlighted the numerous opportunities emerging out of the country post-pandemic, with a focus on sustainable practices, eco-friendly products, and innovative solutions to support the Blue Pacific’s resilience and development.

As the world moves towards a post-pandemic era, the Blue Pacific region is poised for growth, driven by sustainable practices, innovative technologies, and a strong focus on preserving the unique culture and heritage of the region. PTI Australia remains committed to supporting the growth of Pacific Island countries, with Samoa being a strong example of the potential the region has to offer.

Bolstered by the success of the recent mission, PTI Australia looks forward to further strengthening its ties with Samoa and continuing to support the development of the Blue Pacific region, building on the foundations laid during this visit and working hand-in-hand with local partners to create a prosperous future for all.
