PTI New Zealand: Providing eCommerce Scholarships

Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) New Zealand alongside the Oceania Indigenous House of eCommerce have partnered to offer eighteen ecommerce education scholarships, valued at NZ$30,570, to Blue Pacific entrepreneurs.

Pacific Trade Invest (PTI) New Zealand and Oceania Indigenous House of ecommerce Ltd are partnering to offer eighteen ecommerce education scholarships to Blue Pacific entrepreneurs.

The scholarships, valued at NZ$30,570 each, will provide Pacific-based business professionals access to the Ka Hao Indigenous ecommerce Program, enabling participants to deepen their understanding of the ecommerce space while also forging a network of indigenous peers and experts across the Pacific.

With ecommerce one of five priorities in the Pacific Aid for Trade Strategy (PAfTS) 2020-2025, its potential to narrow distances and reduce trade costs, while promoting diversification of Pacific economies, has long been recognised.

For Pacific-based entrepreneurs, the 18-week long program provides an opportunity to engage in this fast-growing space while also learning practical skills, such as how to best develop an ecommerce system, basic website building, email automation, online traffic system management and more.

Service provider, Cecilia Joy Ngere, says the scholarship has opened the door to a plethora of new opportunities.

“I’m a graduate from the Ka Hao i te Ao Indigenous ecommerce program. What a privilege learning what I have on a scholarship and doing online business OUR way. It has given me opportunities that are opening my eyes to new horizons and new friends!”

Highlighting the value of the initiative, artist Awhina Murupaenga of Whatu Creative has gone on to win three ecommerce awards since her completion of the program, with fellow alumni, Maori designer, Nichola Te Kiri, also doubling the growth of her online store in the same period.

Pacific-based businesses professionals interested in the scholarship are invited to attend a free one-hour online workshop where ecommerce gurus will share the secrets of how they created their own seven and eight figure ecommerce-based businesses.

Upon completion of the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to apply for the scholarship.

The workshops will take place over between August and December 2022, with the full, 18-week eCommerce scholarships beginning in February 2022.
