KAI PASIFIKA a celebration of Blue Pacific cuisine will be at Peter Gordon's acclaimed Homeland restaurant at Westhaven, Auckland, in the week starting 3 October.

KAI PASIFIKA will introduce unique ingredients from Pacific Island producers to New Zealand chefs, importers, distributors, food lovers, and media.

While Pacific travel hasn’t been the easiest over the last two years, Aucklanders will get a chance to experience the flavours of our beloved neighbouring islands in October when KAI PASIFIKA comes to Peter Gordon's food embassy, Homeland.

With products from 18 different artisan producers across seven different countries it’s going to be an incredible week filled with Pacific flavours.

The festival will include:

- 20 Invited chefs (including a small cohort of the Blue Pacific’s finest  chefs sponsored by the New Zealand government, alongside Kiwi locals) spontaneously creating new dishes from the mountain of specially-imported Pacific ingredients.
Monday 3 October 2 - 5pm. Media and potential importers welcome to share the table

- Media stars cooking up a storm. Tuesday 4 October 9am - 12 noon. Cameras welcome! Followed by a trade event for importers 3-5pm (by invitation)

KAI PASIFIKA is a natural partnership between Pacific Trade Invest New Zealand, with Homeland the premier waterfront restaurant that is celebrated as 'The food embassy for Aotearoa & the Pacific.'

Glynis Miller, PTI New Zealand's Trade Commissioner says "We are very excited to be partnering with Homeland for this culinary event. We want to promote the Pacific's unique products, tell the stories of its producers, and find new buyers and markets in New Zealand and further afield.  I think its important to involve pacific cuisine as a vehicle for connectedness, about who we are; our families, our communities.    We can’t wait to share some familiar, and new, Pacific tastes with so many different audiences.

And it’s not just PTI New Zealand who are excited. “Our primary goal at Homeland has always been to showcase products from Aotearoa and the Pacific” says Peter Gordon. “We already sell and cook with prawns from New Caledonia, honey from Niue, vanilla from Tonga and chocolate from the Solomon Islands and we can’t wait to work with more Pasifika producers with exciting products like cacao, coffee, taro, tropical fruit and so much more.”
